Life and being thankful

This week has been a week of sickness. I started it off with one of the worst UTI's I've had. Tyler went late Monday night to the store for me to get some more pain relief even thought he didn't feel good. We didn't know it at the time but Tyler had strep throat. He was so sick he was in bed most of the week. Brig ended the week with strep throat. I have had a lot of time to ponder things this week as I laid around and awake. Whenever I'm sick it makes me so grateful for when I'm not. I am so thankful that I am healthy most of the time. It made me so grateful for my sweet kids. Spencer knew that I wasn't feeling good and I was getting up to clean and he insisted that I sit down and he cleaned for me. Spencer is such a great son. I feel so blessed to be his mother. Austin has been quite a challenge this week. Whenever he doesn't get his way it turns into a tantrum. I love Austin so much and I wish I knew the right things to do to help him....

Brig is 2!

On Friday the 8th of January Brig turned 2 years old. I can't believe that my baby is that big. I was worried that we wouldn't have a camera to take pics on his birthday but fortunately we were able to get another one. Here Brig is at the hospital...notice how chubby his little legs are. They are still chubby in a cute way :) Here he is blowing out the candles on his cake. I had to lite them twice because he kept blowing them out. His shirt is dirty because I let him lick the bowl that had cake batter in it. Here Brig is enjoying his cake and ice cream. I'm so thankful that Brig is a part of our family! For one of our family night activities we made journals. They are to help our kids recognize Our Heavenly Father's hand in our lives. Also it is a gratitude journal so that they can think of things that they are thankful for. In Hailey's journal she came up with all sorts of things that she was thankful for and the very last thing that she wrote was "I...

Seattle and Gratitude....a life lesson

On the 28th of December we left for Seattle. My BIL Trevor was getting married. We were all excited to go and planned to stay a few extra days to see some of the sights. On the 30th Trevor was married and Shawn (another BIL) took a really nice pic of the fam at the temple with our digital camera. I also captured a few really adorable shots of Brig. Our kids were so well behaved on the trip that wherever we went we were complimented on them. This definitely made me feel pretty good. On the 31st we went to the Space Needle and Pacific Science center. I am extremely afraid of heights and decided not to pay to be tortured so I stayed on the ground with Brig while Tyler and the rest of the kids went up to the top. I took a few pics of the Space needle before we went in and when we came out I was really glad I had because it had started raining and it would have been hard to get a pic in the rain. On the 1st (New Years Day) we decided to take our kids out to Ocean Shore to see the...

December

Image
December was a busy and fun month for all of us. At Oakley Elementary they always have a Christmas program, all of the grades participate. At the end Santa comes and gives out a white sack with an orange and a few candies to each child. The pictures that I took didn't turn out well since I didn't turn the flash on but I had to add one of Spencer because he looked so cute in his suit with sunglasses and and a santa hat :) Here is a picture of the whole school singing Here comes Santa Claus just before he enters. School got out on the 18th of December leaving us the rest of the month to play and celebrate. On the 19th Hailey had a dance recital. She dances ballet and is working on becoming graceful. She is doing really well. This year I was feeling a bit ambitious and decided to sew 3 pairs of pj's for each kid. Next year I'll probably only make one pair per kid. I ended up staying up until midnight on the 19th so I could finish up...and I did. We were leaving f...

My, My, How time flies

I haven't even posted one blog entry in November. I've been meaning to, I just haven't taken the time. On the 11th of November our school puts on a Veterans day program. It is a really nice tribute. Every time I go I get emotional. I am so grateful for this beautiful country that we live in. My sister Christine had surgery on her sinus and nose this month. I'm glad that it all turned out and that she is doing better. I really missed talking to her a lot and wished that I lived close enough to help her. There was one birthday a few years ago, where I felt like I had no friends in the world and I look outside and she came to visit and brought me a cake so that I wouldn't have to bake my own. I am thankful for the great friend that she is to me. This week I had to help with the Thanksgiving Feast in Hailey's class since I am the room mom. I had to take a crock pot of chicken noodle soup. It was fun to go and help. I had enough soup left over for a few mea...

Last week was the week where they teach the kids to stay drug free. Each day they dress up or do something crazy. I had to take their pictures for crazy hair day. They think it is so fun. If you are wondering, Spencer made himself a "wig" out of paper. Last weekend my parents and Aunt Les came to visit. It was so fun to have them here. My parents didn't get to stay very long, but Les came to the school carnival and helped me with the kids. While we were there Austin fell and hit his head on some steps in the gym. I felt quite concerned for him because I had never seen a goose egg so big on someones head. I'm so thankful that he is okay. He has two black eyes now and a large lump on his forehead, but I know it could have been a lot worse. Aunt Les brings up Haunted houses for the kids to decorate each Halloween time, they all think it is so fun. On Monday for family night we did our annual pumpkin carving before Halloween. This year it was kind of nice beca...

Ethan is 4

Today is Ethan's Birthday! It seems like it was just yesterday that I had him. He is so grown up now. When I asked him what he wanted for his birthday he said a combine and that is all that he wanted. Yesterday I had a doctors appointment for Austin. After the appointment we went to the store to pick up his prescription. He brought money from his allowance to buy Ethan a present. When Spencer and Hailey got home from school they also wanted to give Ethan a present. I wasn't planning to go back to the store so they both went into their rooms and found things to give him. Spencer gave Ethan a sea shell a rock and a pedometer (if you know Spencer rocks are truly a treasure to him so it is really a thoughtful gift). Haily gave Ethan a toy gun that is pink. It was a toy she picked while we were on vacation to Yellowstone. I felt happy that my kids are so nice to each other. While we were at the pharmacy Ethan sat next to a little old lady and said loudly "hi, I'm ...
