December
December was a busy and fun month for all of us. At Oakley Elementary they always have a Christmas program, all of the grades participate. At the end Santa comes and gives out a white sack with an orange and a few candies to each child. The pictures that I took didn't turn out well since I didn't turn the flash on but I had to add one of Spencer because he looked so cute in his suit with sunglasses and and a santa hat :)
Here is a picture of the whole school singing Here comes Santa Claus just before he enters.
School got out on the 18th of December leaving us the rest of the month to play and celebrate. On the 19th Hailey had a dance recital. She dances ballet and is working on becoming graceful. She is doing really well.
This year I was feeling a bit ambitious and decided to sew 3 pairs of pj's for each kid. Next year I'll probably only make one pair per kid. I ended up staying up until midnight on the 19th so I could finish up...and I did. We were leaving for Utah on the 20th to visit fam.
Here is all of the kids on Christmas Eve in their PJ's
The drive down to Utah was uneventful, fortunately we realized the week before that Hailey gets car sick after she threw up in our new car. The problem is that she never tells us that she is feeling sick until after she throws up. Fortunately for me and unfortunately for my parents she threw up on their carpet as she walked in from the car. I do have a supply of Dramamine for our trip to Seattle.
Christmas was a fun and relaxing day for us. Spencer got a telescope from santa. Unfortunately it was really foggy for a couple of nights but he has finally been able to see craters on the moon.
Austin got a Red Ryder B-B Gun from Santa. He assures us that he won't shoot his eye out :)
Hailey's favorite gift was a doll that she got from Grandma Dalton.
Ethan isn't a morning person and I had to drag him out of bed to see what Santa brought, but at least this year he would let me take pictures.
Brig wanted candy before his gifts. I ended up just throwing the gum balls away because he kept dumping them everywhere.
For Christmas Austin colored a beautiful picture for me and wrote a note about what a nice mother I am to him. He is such a nice boy.
The Day After Christmas Austin turned 9! I can't believe how fast time has gone by. I feel guilty that I wasn't excited to be pregnant with Austin (it was a little bit of a surprise, when they tell you not to forget any birth control pills they mean it) I'm thankful for him and that he is a part of our family.
For Austin's birthday we went to the Asian Buffet for dinner. That is the place he picked. Just before we went there I had gone to Walmart with Ethan, Hailey, and Brig. Ethan kept climbing underneath the cart to ride. I told him not to because I didn't want him to get his fingers run over but he didn't listen and got his finger run over by the cart. I felt bad, his finger split a little on the side and bled. When we went to dinner I had to feed him because he kept holding his finger with his other hand. I'm glad his finger is okay. I know it could be worse.
Tomorrow morning we are leaving for Seattle. Trevor is getting married on Wednesday. I hope that the ride goes okay, 12 hours in a car with 5 kids might make me a little nuts.
I am so grateful for my family. I love this time of year, it has given me time to reflect on life and our savior and how truly blessed we really are.
